Job and a Bowl Game

This past week has been a good one! I finally started my first full time job and I couldn’t be more excited. I am working in the marketing department for a technology company. To top it off, the Washington State Cougar football team is going to their first bowl game in a decade, albeit the New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque. The cheapest flights from Seattle are more than $600, a little out of my price range. Not that I’m complaining, I’m elated we’re in a bowl after expecting 3-4 wins to start the season. It has also been a great week in music, the Above & Beyond Group Therapy mix on Friday was phenomenal due to Juventa’s guest mix and Matt Fax released a year-end mix of his 60 favorite songs crammed into 1 hour. I am posting the Matt Fax mix in my next post Chicken Pesto Pizza. It truly is a happy holidays around my neck of the woods and I hope everyone is having an equally great holiday season.

Starting out and a little more background about me.

Ever since college I have enjoyed experimenting with food and cooking. A lot of the things that I make are pretty simple, but as I gain more experience I will attempt more intricate recipes and creations. I am going to try to post 2-3 times per week but hopefully once I get into the swing of things I’ll post more. My go to’s are pizza, any kind of meat, chocolate, sandwiches, Italian, BBQ, Asian, and breakfast. I attempt to stay healthy but I am not afraid to have a “cheat meal”.  Experimenting with spices is what I enjoy most about cooking and things can get weird in the kitchen!

I have never taken pictures of food so that’s exciting and scary, because how do you take tantalizing pictures of food? I also love music and I will be posting a song or mix or live show with every post or in a separate post depending on the formatting.

Being 25 and from Seattle, I grew up with boy bands,  Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock and some alternative music. Despite growing up on these genres I discovered my favorite one in the summer of 2003. My Dad was working on something in the garage and he was listening to c89.5, a local radio station (that I had never even heard of) that played dance music. That station played dance music and what has now evolved into electronic dance music or EDM as everyone knows.  What I realized about EDM back when I was 15 was that it brought happiness. I was hooked! I have since delved further into the sub-genres such as trance, house, progressive trance and house, deep-house, drum n’ bass, etc… This new found inspiration led me to thinking I wanted to DJ and I have more than 50 mixes that I’ve created. My latest one is posted below. My other music love is hip-hop and I am sad to say that in the words of Nas, “Hip-Hop is dead”. There are a few guys who are trying to keep it going but the support just isn’t there anymore.

Life (sports)

I love sports or pretty much any kind and have grown up playing them all. Ask anyone who knows me and I’ll drop almost anything to engage in some competition. Seattle might be the second most depressing sports city next to Cleveland but that doesn’t keep me from supporting them, especially the Seahawks. The Sounders are solid and have the pieces but they have yet to put it all together and the Mariners haven’t been close to making the playoffs in 10 years. I graduated from Washington State University, and it is probably the proudest fan-base with the worst teams. The tagline for our fan-base is “undefeated fans”. To make up for all that losing I am a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan and I’ve loved them since they traded for Kobe Bryant, I don’t know what I would do without them.

I love to talk about any of the above so if you want to chat, drop me a line.
